DAY BY DAY

Upon arrival in Tanzania, you will settle at your hotel in Moshi for your dinner and overnight to begin your trekking on the following day using the northern circuit route.

The lemosho route departs from the far west side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Getting to Londorossi gate(2100m) takes approximately 2 hours from Moshi. You will register at Londorossi gate with the Kilimanjaro national park authorities before getting back to be transported to the starting point which is a 12km distance. You will have your lunch at this point before starting your trek to my Mkubwa camp for dinner.

Day three starts with a gradual hike through the final stretch of the rainforest zone which gets steeper as you approach the low alpine moorland zone. The trek is short which makes it easy to Shira Camp 1. It’s a 9km distance.

From Shira One camp, you will proceed your trekking across and up the Shira plateau to Shira Camp two at 3850m. Here you will join trekkers from the Machame route whilst enjoying stunning views across the valley below and the western breach of Kilimanjaro above. You will proceed to Shira caldera and onto the off-the-beaten-path to Moir hut. You finish at a high altitude and you may feel altitude sickness symptoms.

Begin the morning trek heading out of the moorland and into the stark alpine desert, on a steep ridge off the main trail, beginning your venture on the northern circuit route. This section of the trail offers great views across the plains that lie north of Kilimanjaro.

As you head up buffalo ridge the terrain becomes increasingly sparse. The route is rarely travelled and we will enjoy its mountain wilderness feel. We trek through remote valleys on the northern slopes of Kilimanjaro until you arrive at the third cave.

A steady ascent over the saddle which sits between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi peak. You continue southwest to school hut where you will be served an early dinner and go to rest as you will begin your summit bid just before midnight. The trekking distance is around 6 km.

At around midnight, you begin your push to the summit. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek.

It’s the final day of trekking and is a short hike through the dense montane rainforest from millennium camp to Mweka gate.

Depart Mweka gate and transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
